Alicia Donnelly

Alicia is a Minnesota native who attended the University of Minnesota for her undergraduate courses and who recently received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to attending veterinary school, Alicia received a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied the biochemical requirements for HIV-1 transcription. She completed her postdoctoral research at Stanford University, studying how a novel oncoprotein contributes to the pathogenesis of acute pre-B-cell leukemia.

After a hectic year in the clinic, Alicia is excited to be back at the research bench and is looking forward to unraveling some of the mysteries of osteosarcoma. The project that she will be working on seeks to characterize and understand the molecular mechanisms that promote metastasis of this lethal cancer.

When she is not in the lab, Alicia enjoys spending time with her family. Together with her husband Niall (a materials scientist from Northern Ireland), she has three very energetic children who rarely allow for a dull moment. They enjoy traveling together, exploring new parks around Minnesota, and spending time with grandparents and cousins.
