Kelly Makielski

Originally from Michigan, Kelly decided to go to veterinary school after getting a BS in biology from Northeastern University in Boston.  She graduated with a DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010.  Following vet school, she completed a rotating internship at Angell Memorial in Boston and a specialty internship at Iowa State University. She stayed at ISU for a residency and concurrent MS degree in small animal internal medicine; after finishing her residency, she remained for another year as clinical faculty.

Kelly joined the Modiano Lab in July 2016 as a post-doctoral research associate, and her current project is a clinical trial evaluating an immunotherapy treatment for osteosarcoma.

When not in the lab, Kelly and her husband Jonah keep busy with their menagerie, which consists of Cricket (a pit bull mix), Archie (a miniature pinscher), and three cats: Blossom, Digby, and Edith.
